Diploma Delivery Gateway

Schools, colleges and others will be expected to deliver Diplomas as part of collaborative local partnerships, known as consortia.

Local partnerships who are interested in offering Diplomas need to pass through a Gateway which will assess their readiness to deliver. Consortia which have not yet successfully gone through Gateway can apply before 3 December 2007 or, if they do not yet feel ready, in future years.

To find out what evidence of readiness to teach the Diploma in Engineering we will be looking for in the second Gateway processes download the guidance for a strong application to teach the Diploma in Engineering.  You sould also refer to the wider guidance on complete Gateway applications in the DCSF Diploma Gateway Guidance

First teaching of the Diploma in Engineering will start in 2008. More than 60 consortia who submitted strong Gateway applications are expected to being teaching the Diploma in Engineering.  A further 58 consortia are being given longer to prepare and invited to teach the Diploma from September 2009.

Quality is a priority for Diploma delivery.  Only those consortia who demonstrated they were able to provide high quality delivery across all the criteria from September 2008 have been given a green light to prepare for teaching the new qualification next year.
