Who should do a Diploma?

The Diploma in Engineering is intended for students of all abilities who want to find out more about engineering and develop engineering-related as well as generic skills and knowledge, without committing to a specific career.

Because of their unique design, Diplomas are equally suitable for the most able pupils preparing for demanding university courses; for young people who find the existing education system doesn't suit them and for those who want to go straight into work after leaving school.

The Diploma at every level is designed to serve a variety of entry and progression routes, and to avoid narrowing learners' options.  At every level, the Diploma will provide achievers with a range of options both for continuing full time education or entering employment, within or outside of engineering.  Specialised and Additional units allow learners at all levels to select units from within engineering to specialise further, and from outside of engineering to add extra breadth to their learning.

All students will benefit from the holistic approach of the Diploma, including the personal, learning and thinking skills development, the extended project, and the functional skills in Maths, English and ICT.
