Diploma students rely on support from employers to provide them
with insight into the engineering industry.
Employers supporting the Diploma will work in partnership with
local schools and colleges to bring classroom learning to life.
You can give your support in a variety of different ways:
Site visits
You may be able to give a group of young people controlled
access to parts of your business so they can experience the
environment of an engineering company.
Work experience for young people
You may be prepared to offer up to 10 days work experience for a
young person or persons to give them real life experience of work
within your business.
Work experience for teachers
Offering placements to teachers will help to ensure that they
have a good understanding of the engineering environment to be able
to pass this on to young people.
Visits to schools or college
Employers can visit schools or colleges to explain to Diploma
students how the theory of engineering works outside of the
classroom.
Provision of materials
Schools and colleges may need access to materials to help bring
classroom learning to life. Your company’s leaflets, brochures,
videos and even waste materials could be put to good use in the
classroom.
