Diploma Gateway
From 2013, a statutory entitlement means that
any 14- to 19-year-old will have the right to take a Diploma
course wherever they live. However, not all schools and colleges
will be able to offer Diplomas straight away.
Those wishing to deliver the Diploma need
to pass through a Gateway process, which assesses their readiness
and capability to deliver. Rather than acting independently, a
partnership of schools, colleges and employers known as a
consortium, apply to the Diploma Gateway by completing Self
Assessment documentation. The Self Assessment documentation focuses
on the summary proposal, facilities, workforce and employer
support.
Consortia applications to deliver the Diploma
in Engineering are invited annually in the Autumn.
